I read Victor Frankl's autobiography "Man's Search for Meaning" in college, and remember well the impact it had on me. It is true---though difficult---that we can always frame a situation in a better light so that we can cope. Albert Ellis's Rational Emotive Therapy is a very similar concept (see the book "Anger: How to Live With and Without It").
